Science Week

Over the last couple of days we have been doing various experiments for science week. We investigated the weight of potatoes, tried to identify seeds from different fruits, guessed the weight of a pumpkin and of course had a paper aeroplane competition! Today we went on a visit to the school hall where there was a selection of stations for us to explore. Some of the things we did included examining different fruits, identifying insects and dinosaurs and looking at the different parts of the body. Have a look at the pictures below!

School Book Fair

Don't forget that the school book fair is on this week. There are hundreds of books on sale at much reduced prices! 

The day for 1st class is Thursday between 9am and 10:30am. 

Gaelic Football

This Thursday our Gaelic Football training begins!

Barry will be coming in to do Gaelic Football with us on the 13th, 20th and 27th of November and again on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of January.

Don't forget to wear your tracksuit on these Thursdays!

Halloween Sponsored Walk

We had great fun today on our annual sponsored walk. All the children dressed up in amazing costumes. We walked around the town to show off our fabulous outfits!   

We had a competition for the best homemade costume. Ross as a Minecraft character was a worthy winner with Mia as a zombie and Sean as Thor selected as runners - up. There were some other excellent costumes on display; especially the homemade ones. Spiders, vampires, pirates, zombies and even Lar Corbett were all to be seen walking around Balbriggan!

Thanks to the parents who assisted us on our walk also!

Fire Safety Competition

Well done to James for winning the Fire Safety Poster Competition! Last week was fire safety week and we all designed fire safety posters. Well done also to the runners up; Emma and Daniel. 

Halloween Maths Assessment

This week we have been doing our Halloween Maths Assessment. All the children do the assessment at the end of each term to show how much they have learned!

Carving a Pumpkin

Today we carved a pumpkin. We wrote down instructions as we worked to practice procedural writing. 

Gold Card Award

Congratulations to all the boys and girls in room 9 for winning the gold card award for lining up at break time. Well done! 

Crests

Last week for our art lesson, we designed out own personal crests. We divided our crests into four parts. Each section represented a different part of our lives. School, sport, family and dancing were some of the interests the children decided to include on their crests. 

Well Done Aoife!

Aoife competed in a dancing competition in Trabolgan over the weekend. She brought in three trophies she won to show the class today. Well done Aoife!
